HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS

Grandpa kinda smiled as he watched us kids
Unwrappin' toys and askin' "is that all there
Said his Christmas used to come in a shoebox
Just an apple, some candy and some wool socks

(He told us) I really miss that, so if I'm still here
Could we celebrate at our place next year

With a HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS
Read a chapter from Luke, sing a carol or two
Yeah, a heartwarming Christmas
We'll put up the manger scene
Talk about what it means to us
To have a HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS

We drove out to the farm the next Christmas Eve
Moon shinin' on the whitest snow I'd ever seen
Grandma had the house all warm with candlelight
She was in the kitchen bakin' a pumpkin pie

(Grandpa) helped me put the star, on the tree top
And underneath they fixed us each a shoe box

It was a HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS
Read a chapter from Luke, sang a carol or two
Yeah, a heartwarming Christmas
We put up the manger scene
Talked about what it means to us
To have a HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS

My sister got a doll with a crocheted gown
I still have the train, the old man handed down

On that HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS
Last one with granddad, best one we ever had
Yeah, a heartwarming Christmas
And now that manger scene
Still reminds me of what it means to us
To have a HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS
